Age spots/sun spots

Age Spots a.k.a liver spots or solar lentigines vary in size, are flat and come in an array of colors including brown, black or tan. They usually show up on the skin that is exposed to the sun the most. The majority of patients suffering from age spots are 50 or above.

Sun Spots are due to sun overexposure and overactive melanocytes. Melanocytes produce melanin and pop out pigment like an umbrella to protect our skin from the sun. Eye, hair color and ethnicity all play a part in how much and what tone of melanin the melanocytes produce.

When treating these conditions, over the counter medications just won’t cut it. Prescription grade topical creams and light laser treatments are usually required to create a more even, youthful skin tone.

We are experts in treating age and sun spots and can recommend a treatment plan tailored to your skin care needs.
