Cysts

If you’ve noticed a small bump under your skin that feels like a ball, then you’re most likely dealing with a cyst. Some can be painful and others may not have any pain associated with them at all. Your best bet is to have Dr. Stoll check it out for you, because if the cyst decides to rupture, it can be quite painful and have a time consuming/uncomfortable healing period. It’s usually better to get it removed before this occurs. That’s why we recommend coming in for a consultation if you’ve felt a bump under the skin.

The treatment for cyst removal is usually quick and pretty easy to endure. The area is numbed with a lidocaine injection which stings a little (probably the most uncomfortable part) and the cyst is removed by the doctor. The area is then closed with sutures that will stay for a period of time while the skin heals from the inside out. In some cases, antibiotics will be prescribed to ensure no infection develops.
